ORDINANCE NO. 2001- 68
AN ORDINANCE amending the 2001 budget for the City of Yakima; and making
an appropriation of $84,000 in the 370 - Convention Center
Capital Improvement Fund for expenditure during 2001 to
provide for architectural services relating to the
Convention Center expansion.
WHEREAS, the amount of $76,000 must be appropriated within the 370 -
Convention Center Capital Improvement Fund for expenditure during 2001 to provide for
architectural services relating to the Convention Center expansion, and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2001 budget it could not
reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance would
be required; and the City Council finds that an emergency exists of the type contemplated
by RCW 35.33.091 and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the appropriation
herein provided, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. The amount of $84,000 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated
Fund Balance in the 370 - Convention Center Capital Fund to account number 370- 4 -370-
328- 1909 - 594.75 -410 as a 2001 appropriation.
Section 2. This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City
Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 4th day of
December 2001.

Capital Fund to provide for architectural services

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
In September, 2001 Council approved an appropriation in the Convention Center Capital Fund of
$76,000 which represented an estimate of architectural services to be rendered in 2001. Since
that time, this project has been accelerated, and Wardell Architects estimate that a total of
$160,000 will be needed for services through the end of December 2001. The architects were
retained by a contract that was approved by Council in September, 2001. This budget adjustment
is necessary because of a change in the estimate relating to the timing of when the work would
be performed the contract is unchanged.
The attached appropriation amends the Convention Center Capital Fund budget by an additional
$84,000. (This cost will be reimbursed when the bonds are issued for the project in 2002.)
