AN ORDINANCE amending the fee schedule for land use applications of the City of
Yakima Zoning Ordinance (YMC 15.11.100), the Subdivision Ordinance
(YMC 14.15.010 and 14.15.030), Environmental Policy (YMC 6.88.200),
and Comprehensive Plan Amendments (YMC 16.10.050)
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima, Washington last amended land use application fees for
zoning, subdivision, environmental review and other related permits in 2005; and
WHEREAS, land use application fees currently recover an average of less than twenty -
five percent of the actual cost of printing, postage, legal advertisements and hearing examiner
contract costs and staffing costs for permit processing; and
WHEREAS, the difference between the revenue of fees collected for Land Use
applications and actual costs for processing applications are a general fund expenditure which
City Council wishes to reduce; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved an amendment to the Land Use Application
Fees as a portion of the 2011 City of Yakima Budget to be consistent with the fee schedule of
Yakima County; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1: Fees for land use applications as authorized by the City of Yakima Zoning
Ordinance (YMC 15.11.100), the Subdivision Ordinance (YMC 14.15.010 and 14.15.030),
Environmental Policy (YMC 6.88.200), and Comprehensive Plan Amendments (YMC
16.10.050) are hereby amended to reflect the fee schedule as shown on Attachment 1; and
Section 2: If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance is declared invalid or unconstitutional for any reason, such decision shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage,
approval, and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, at a regular meeting and signed and approved this
4th day of January 2011.
