HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-040 Appropriation; Kiwanis Park ball fields construction ORDINANCE NO. 2002 - 40 AN ORDINANCE amending the 2002 budget for the City of Yakima; and making appropriations of $1,250,000 within the 331 - Parks and Recreation Capital Fund for expenditure during 2002 to construct ball fields at Kiwanis Park. WHEREAS, the amount of $1,250,000 must be appropriated within the 331 -Parks and Recreation Capital Fund for expenditure during 2002 to construct ball fields at Kiwanis Park, and WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2002 budget it could not reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance would be required; and the City Council finds that an emergency exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33.091 and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. The amount of $1,250,000 is hereby appropriated, for expenditure during 2002, from the Unappropriated Fund Balance in the 331 - Parks and Recreation Capital Fund to account numbers as specified in Schedule I attached hereto and incorporated herein. Section 2. This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter. Senator Alex Deccio was instrumental in bringing this grant to the Yakima community for the purpose of ball field construction. The meetings planned for eliciting comments from the public on the Kiwanis Park Site Master Plan will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the Yakima Valley Community College. Please note the attached meeting notice. Prior Council action has granted the City Manager authority to execute the grant agreement with CTED when it arrives. The State will be charging an administrative fee against the grant of 0.085% which equates to $10,625. This is below their usual rate of 1.25% to 1.75 %. Two separate meetings will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2002. The First meeting will be held Wednesday, June 19 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Yakima Valley Community College in the Hopf Student Union Building The Second meeting will be held Wednesday, June 19 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at Yakima Valley Community College in the Hopf Student Union Building At this meeting we will share with the community what type of features might be included in the redevelopment of this park. Comments from this meeting will be used to help develop a master plan that will guide the future construction of the park. If you are unable to attend this meeting, I would like to hear from you anyway.
