AN ORDINANCE amending the 2003 budget for the City of Yakima, and
making an appropriation of $25,000 within the 170 Tourist
Promotion Fund and $15,000 from the 172 Public Facilities
District Revenue Fund to cover increased labor costs
during expansion construction.
WHEREAS, the amount of $25,000 must be appropriated within the 170 -
Tourist Promotion Fund and the amount of $15,000 must be appropriated from
the 172 - Public Facilities District Fund to cover increased labor costs, and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2003 budget it could not
reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this
ordinance would be required, and the City Council declares that an emergency
exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33 091 and that it is m the best
interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1 The amount of $25,000 is hereby appropriated from the
Unappropriated Fund Balance in the 170 - Tourist Promotion Fund to account
number 170 - 170 - 325 - 0000 - 57110 -411, and $15,000 is hereby appropriated from
the Unappropriated Fund Balance in the 172 - Public Facilities District Revenue
Fund to 172- 172 -327- 0000 -57541 -491 as a 2003 appropriation.
Section 2. This ordinance is one makmg an appropriation and shall take
effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter

ITEM TITLE An Ordinance amending the 2003 Budget and making appropriations
within the Tourist Promotion and Public Facilities District funds for increased
labor costs to maintain the facility during the recent construction project.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION
During the construction and renovation of the Convention Center in 2003, hundreds of
additional man-hours were required to keep the building presentable and operational.
Additionally, staff from the Yakima Valley Visitors and Convention Bureau incurred
expenses to plan and staff the grand opening celebrations, as well as to help with office
moves and room turn- around time during construction.
The Convention Center is requesting a total appropriation of $40,000 The sum of $25,000 is
requested from the 170 Tourist Promotion fund from the unencumbered fund balance The
Public Facilities District Board of Directors also voted unanimously to approve a payment of
$15,000 from the 172 Public Facilities District account to reimburse the Yakima Valley Visitors
and Convention Bureau for their expenses.
Attached is an ordinance which authorizes the funds to be expended from the 170 Tourist
Promotion Fund and the 172 Public Facilities District Revenue Fund.
