The purpose of this request for parking restnctions is to improve safety and minimize the impact of employee parking in the neighborhood. The letter requesting this action from the City of Yakima is attached. City Council action is required for parking restrictions when the width of the improved street exceeds 28 feet, such as the streets in this ordinance. Additionally, this year the City of Yakima will be reconstructing Mead Avenue between 11 and 16 Avenues from the current narrow two -lane road to a three -lane street with curb, gutter and sidewalks. On- street parking will be eliminated as a result of this road and capacity improvement project. A future seal -coat project of Mead Avenue between 3rd and 11 Avenue will complete the 3 -lane section for Mead Avenue. The residents of Mead Avenue were notified of the change of on- street parking as a result of this project on May 4, 2004 Resolution _Ordinance X Other: Letter from Memorial Hospital (2- 27 -04), map Contract Mail to (name and address): Funding Source APPROVED FOR SUBMITTAL.
