An Ordinance Amending the 2005 Budget and Making an Appropriation in the 364 - Transit Capital Fund to Purchase Vans for Additional Vanpool Services SUBMITTED BY Ken Mehin, Transit Manager Cindy Epperson, Financial Services Manager CONTACT PERSON /TELEPHONE. Ken Mehin- 575 -6005 SUMMARY EXPLANATION Yakima Transit was recently notified that it was successful in obtaining a grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation to purchase vans so that additional vanpool services /routes can be established. In separate legislation for Council's consideration, City Council is being asked to approve the grant /contract with the State. The attached appropriation ordinance would authorize the use of up to $260,000 from the Transit Capital Fund reserves to purchase 10 vans. The state grant would then reimburse this fund after the purchase. Therefore, the capital fund balance will remain unchanged as a result of this transaction. (There will likely be additional operational costs depending on the timing of when new vanpools are established. An appropriation may be required when the budgetary impact can be determined.)
