HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-038 Communications Equipment Appropriation for Emergency Services 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2005- 38 AN ORDINANCE amending the 2005 budget for the City of Yakima, and making appropriations of $5,000 within the 150 - Emergency Services Fund for expenditure during 2005 to purchase grant - funded emergency communication equipment. WHEREAS, the amount of $5,000 must be appropriated within the 150 - Emergency Services Fund for expenditure during 2005 to purchase grant - funded emergency communication equipment, and WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2005 budget it could not reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance would be required, and the City Council declares that an emergency exists of the type contemplated by RCW 35.33.091 and that it is in the best interests of the City to make the appropriation herein provided, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1: The amount of $5,000 is hereby appropriated from the Un- appropriated Fund Balance in the 151 — Emergency Services Fund to the following accounts: Resources: Yakama Nation Interlocal Grant - - -- 150 - 150 -699- 0000 - 33707 -ILG ---$5,000 Expenditures: Small Tools/Minor Equipment--- -- - - -- 150 - 150 - 126 -0000- 52690 -350 ---$5,000 Section 2: This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 5th day of July 2005 PAUL GEORGE, MAYOR ATTEST: .J CITY CLERK First Reading: 6 -28 -2005 Publication Date: 7 -8 -2005 Effective Date: 7 -8 -2005 cje 6/22/2005 BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL YA.KIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEMENT Item No 4(9_ For Meeting Of !i 1- o5_ ITEM TITLE A) Consideration of a Motion to Accept a Grant from the Yakama Nation B) An Ordinance Amending the 2005 Budget in the Emergency Services Fund to Purchase Grant- funded Emergency Communication Equipment SUBMITTED BY Dennis K. Mayo, Fire Chief – 575 -6060 Steve Scott, DC Support Services - 575 -6165 SUMMARY EXPLANATION The Yakama Nation has established the Community Contribution Fund to provide financial assistance to local law enforcement, emergency medical, traffic and transportation, and other agencies and service providers impacted by activities directly and indirectly associated with the operation of the Nation's gaming facilities at the Yakama Nation Legends Casino In March, the Yakima Fire Department submitted a grant application in the amount of $5,000 for the purpose of purchasing two -way portable communications equipment for first-line apparatus. The Department's application was presented to and approved by the Yakama Nation's "Community Contributions Committee" in April. This grant will be utilized to purchase two Motorola XTS 3000 Portable Ratios with extra battery, chargers and accessones. Staff respectfully requests that Council accept the grant from the Yakama Nation and approve the attached ordinance, which authonzes an appropriation of $5,000 in the Emergency Services budget to be funded 100% by this grant from the Yakama Nation.
