AN ORDINANCE relating to personnel adjusting the Yakima city manager's personal
motor vehicle allowance to account for increased costs of motor vehicle
fuel, maintenance, insurance and depreciation costs that have increased
since the personal motor vehicle allowance was approved at its current
rate in 1997, and amending Section 2 20 097 of Chapter 2 20 of the City
of Yakima Municipal Code
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA.
Section 1 Section 2 20 097 of Chapter 2 20 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows
"2.20 097 Vehicle allowance for city manager
The city manager shall be paid the amount of two three hundred fifty dollars each
month as a vehicle allowance, in addition to the salary specified in the compensation plan for
city employees."
Section 2 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage,
approval, and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter

dollars per month to account for significant actual cost increases in motor vehicle fuel,
maintenance, insurance and depreciation costs occurring over the past eight years, and
amending Section 2 20 097 of Chapter 2 20 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code

SUMMARY EXPLANATION The attached ordinance amends Section 2.20 097 of the City of
Yakima Municipal Code to adjust the city manager's personal vehicle allowance from the 1997
amount of two hundred fifty dollars to three hundred dollars per month to better reflect the actual
costs of operating a personal motor vehicle for City business purposes The personal motor
vehicle allowance has not been adjusted since 1997 This adjustment is necessary to account
for significant increases in motor vehicle operation and maintenance costs over the past eight
years. The additional cost associated with this adjustment is six hundred dollars per year and
has been budgeted in the city manager's transportation budget for 2006
