RESOLUTION authorizing the City Manager and the Chief of Police of the City of Yakima
to execute an Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification with the
United States Department of Justice
WHEREAS, the City and the United States Department of Justice through their law
enforcement agencies have maintained a cooperative working agreement designed to combat
controlled substance traffic within the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, the agreement sets forth the requirements for participation in the federal
Equitable Sharing Program, and
WHEREAS, the agreement sets forth the restrictions upon the use of federally forfeited
cash, property, proceeds, and any interest earned which are equitably shared with the
participating law enforcement agency; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City to approve the
agreement, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager and the Chief of Police of the City of Yakima are hereby authorized and
directed to sign the Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification with the United States
Department of Justice, which is hereby incorporated by reference

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima and the United States Department of Justice, through their law
enforcement agencies, have maintained a cooperative working agreement designed to combat
controlled substance traffic within the City of Yakima.
The federal Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification sets forth the requirements
for participation in the federal Equitable Sharing Program and restrictions upon the use of
federally forfeited cash, property, proceeds, and any interest earned which are equitably shared
with the participating law enforcement agency. A copy of the agreement is on file in the City
Clerk's office.
