My name is Miguel Cuevas I was born in Coalcoman, Mexico and raised
in Toppenish WA I spent a lot of time as a kid looking up to art and how
it was made I then met Robert Lopez who took the time to train me to
become an artist He mentored me for a few years where I gained some
good skills to move forward with developing my passion for art My
whole family inspires a lot of my art work My art has beautiful rich
color with vibrant movement My main motivation is creating a brand
of birds which I use frequently What birds represent to me is freedom
with no limits When I'm creating my art I like to think about being free
and never having boundaries or limits My main focus is detail and
sharpness, so when I heard about this art poster contest in Yakima, I
wanted to see what I could create for this poster I worked really hard,
my family was a big part of this poster as Mexicanos I wanted to put
good detail where It counted and I seen how it payed off This is my
first contest since High School and I was shocked to learn I took 15t
place
I would like to thank the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater
Yakima and all the people involved for giving a young talented artist like
myself the opportunity to display and express what "Cinco de Mayo"
means to me and my culture "Celebracion de la Libertad" Our
celebration of Freedom
