HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-003 Meetings of the City Council; YMC Amendment 1.06.010 r ORDINANCE NO. 2006- 03 AN ORDINANCE relating to regular meetings of the Yakima City Council, amending section 1 06 010 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1 Section 1 06 010 of the city of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows. "1.06.010 Meetings of the city council. A Day and Hour Commencing on March 21, 2006, Rregular meetings of the city council shall be held on the first and third Tuesday of each weekmonth, except that no . •- - - . • - . • - - = • . :. . . . . The meetings shall convene at the hour of 25 p.m. for executive session and at 6:00 p.m. for public business items, or at such other time occasionally designated by the city council. B Place of Meetings. The regular city council meetings shall be held at Yakima City Hall, or at such other place designated by the city council from time to time." Section 2. Dick Zais /575 -6040 SUMMARY EXPLANATION The Council Committee on Meeting Review met on January 12, 2006 Council Members discussed several issues including • Council meeting time for evening meetings Recommendation Begin evening meetings on March 21, 2006 at 5 00 p m for executive sessions (If needed) and business meetings at 6 00 p m. ORDINANCE NO. 2006-03 MEMORANDUM To Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council From Karen Roberts, City Clerk Date January 12, 2006 Subject: Meeting notes for January 12, 2006 Council Meeting Review Committee The Council Committee on meeting review met on January 12, 2006 In attendance were Council Members Neil McClure, Ron Bonlender, and Norm Johnson Staff members present were City Manager Zais, Assistant City Manager Zabell, Randy Beehler, Community Relations Manager; Ray Paolella, City Attorney, Debbie Moore, and Karen Roberts Council Members discussed several issues including • Council meeting time for evening meetings Recommendation Begin evening meetings on March 21, 2006 at 5 00 p m for executive sessions (If needed) and business meetings at 6 p m • Council meeting agenda format Recommendation Change order of agenda — see attached. It was the consensus of the Committee members to present these recommendations to Council at the January 17 council meeting for consideration and possible adoption Future discussion / tasks for the Committee are • Off -site council meetings: study sessions? Business meetings? At high schools (with civics class) and /or other locations? Once decided, the Mayor could send letter to the schools saying we are available to hold council meeting with their class. • When to read resolution and ordinance titles?
