ORDINANCE NO 2007 -10
AN ORDINANCE relating to park rules and regulations, and adding subsection
13.16 015 to the City of Yakima Municipal Code, establishing
pedestrian right -of -way in parks,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA.
Section 1 Subsection 13 16.015 is hereby added to the City of Yakima
Municipal Code to read as follows.
13.16.015
(1) At all times and at all locations within any park, pedestrians shall enjoy the right -
of -way over any motorized or unmotorized vehicle, bicycle, tricycle, animal,
skates, or skateboard.
(2) A violation of this section shall constitute a civil infraction for which a monetary
penalty may be assessed in the amount of two hundred fifty dollars ($250 00)
Each separate day, or portion thereof, during which any violation occurs, shall
constitute a separate violation
Section 2.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage, approval, and
publication as provided by law and by the City Charter
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL at a regular meeting and signed and
approved this 20 day of March, 2007

SUMMARY EXPLANATION
Staff respectfully submits for Council consideration an ordinance establishing pedestrian right -
of -way over vehicles, bicycles, animals, skateboards, etc. in any City park. If Council passes
this ordinance, a violation is designated as a civil infraction and includes a potential monetary
penalty of $250 per violation

STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff respectfully requests the City Council to pass the
Ordinance relating to park rules and regulations, and adding subsection 13 16 015 to the City
of Yakima Municipal Code, establishing pedestrian right -of -way in parks
BOARD /COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION The Parks and Recreation Commission has
reviewed these changes and recommends that the City Council pass the Ordinance This
Ordinance has also been presented to the Public Safety Committee and the Bicycle
Pedestrian Committee
