HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-2792 RESTRICTING BICYCLES, ROLLER SKATES, SKATEBOARDS, COASTERS, TOY VEHICLES AND SIMILAR DEVICES ON STREETS, SIDEW ORDINANCE NO. 2792 AN ORDINANCE relating to public safety and morals; restricting • the use of bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, coasters, toy vehicles and similar devices on streets, sidewalks and other public ways; enacting Chapter 6.71, "Restricting Use Of Bicycle, Skate- board, Roller Skate And Coaster", and Sections 6.71.010, 6.71.020, 6.71.030, and 6.71.040, and repealing Section 9.50.270, all of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Chapter 6.71, "Restricting Use Of Bicycle, Skateboard, Roller Skate And Coaster", and Sections 6.71.010, 6.71.020, 6.71.030, and 6.71.040 thereof, are hereby enacted as a new Chapter and new Sections of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows: 4111 "Chapter 6.71 RESTRICTING USE OF BICYCLE, SKATEBOARD, ROLLER SKATE AND COASTER 6.71.010 Prohibiting Use On Roadway. It shall be unlawful for any person to roller skate or ride in or by means of any skateboard, coaster, toy vehicle, or similar device, upon any roadway except while lawfully crossing a street. 6.71.020 Prohibitions In Business Zones. It shall be unlawful to ro er s ate, rile a ipicyc e, or ride in or by means of any skateboard, coaster, toy vehicle, or similar device on any private or public sidewalk, mall or other public or private way open for pedestrian travel in any area zoned for business use. 6.71.030 Right-Of-Way. It shall be unlawful for any person on roller skates or riding in or by means of any skateboard, coaster, toy vehicle, or similar device to fail to yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian. 6.71.040 Penalty For Violation. Any person convicted of violating, or failing to comply with, any provision of this chapter shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500.00. Section 2. Section 9.50.270 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby repealed. Section 3.
