Denise Nichols, Parks & Recreation Manager, 575 -6020 SUMMARY EXPLANATION The City opened bids for the Eastside Skatepark on May 15, 2008 Grindline Skateparks, Inc. was the low bid However, the bid came in $45,000 higher than anticipated To make up for the shortfall, Apple Valley Kiwanis pledged an additional $20,000 toward construction. In addition, staff made a request for $25,000 from the CDBG Public Facilities Fund A. At the June 11, 2008 Neighborhood Development Committee meeting, Parks and Recreation made a formal presentation and request for $25,000 from CDBG Public II Facilities fund The Committee approved the request (see attached minutes) The request before you today is to approve their recommendation for funding B Pass an ordinance to increase the project budget by $100,000 It should be noted that an appropriation is not necessary for the CDBG fund, as the grant was already included 100% in the budget —this is a matter of obligating the available funds for this purpose The project budget has not been adjusted since the original estimate of $225,000 made in 2005, so the appropriation brings the total project appropriation to the necessary $325,000 (Continued on next page.)
