AN ORDINANCE amending the 2008 budget for the City of Yakima, and
making appropriations within the 000 - General Fund, 142 -
Arterial Street Fund; and 342 - Public Works Construction
Fund to provide partial funding to purchase a replacement
fire truck and to construct pedestrian crossings
WHEREAS, the various funds indicated on the attached Schedule I contain
Unappropriated Fund Balances available for appropriation and expenditures during
2008 in various amounts as detailed in the attached Schedule I to provide for partial
funding to purchase a replacement fire truck and to construct pedestrian crossings, and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the 2008 budget it could not
reasonably have been foreseen that the appropriation provided for by this ordinance
would be required; and the City Council declares that an emergency exists of the type
contemplated by RCW 35 33 091 and that it is in the best interests of the City to make
the appropriation herein provided, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Appropriations are hereby made, for expenditure during 2008, from
Unappropriated Fund Balances in the various Funds to the various accounts and in the
various amounts, to provide partial funding to purchase a replacement fire truck and to
construct pedestrian crossings all as .specified in the Schedule attached hereto and
incorporated herein. f
Section 2. This ordinance is one making an appropriation and shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the
City Charter

ITEM TITLE. An Ordinance amending the 2008 budget and making Appropriations in the

SUMMARY EXPLANATION
At the June 10, 2008 meeting, City Council approved a proposed listing of projects and the
related financing plan including the issuance of Councilmanic tax- exempt general obligation
bonds
The attached appropriation ordinance represents the changes necessary in the 2008 budget
• to accomplish the projects as described in that financing plan. It includes the acceptance of
$120,000 from the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the transfer of REET 1
cash reserves of $150,000, and the increase of the LTGO Bond for $130,000 to finance the
two additional pedestrian crossings These pedestrian crossings are located at 1s` St and "N"
St, and, 16 Avenue and Hathaway It also would authorize the transfer of $150,000 from
general fund reserves to the 332 Fire Capital to help finance the purchase of the Fire
Department Ladder Truck.
