HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-061 Refuse weights and rates "ry ORDINANCE NO. 95- 61 • AN ORDINANCE: relating to health and sanitation, and amending City of Yakima Municipal Code, Subsections 4.16 140(C)(1), 4.16 170(c), 4.16.170(d) and 4.16.170(i) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: 1 SECTION 1. The gross weight of any container when full shall not exceed 4 1 seventy-five sixty -five pounds, unless the customer has established carry -out 4 2 service as provided in subsection (d)(1) below. in which case the gross weight 4 3 of any container when full shall not exceed fifty pounds. and-the 4 4 the- eEmpty containers shall not a weigh more than fifteen pounds. 4 5 SECTION 3 Subsection 4.16 170(d) of the Yakima Municipal Code is hereby 4 6 amended to read as follows. 4 7 4.16.170 Collection of garbage in residential district - Regulations 48 ••• 4 9 (d) Garbage or refuse containers shall be kept on the residential property at all 5 0 times. NQ 5 7 containers shall interfere with the convenient, sightly and sanitary 5 8 enjoyment of private property. 5 9 .(1) A reasonable time before regularly scheduled pickup. unless the refuse 6 0 collection customer has established carry -out service as specified in 6 1 subsection (2) below. containers shall be placed at the property line at the 6 2 alley adjacent to the property, or, for properties not adjoining an alley. at 6 3 the curb of the adjoining street. A reasonable time after pickup, 6 4 customers shall' return containers to their usual position. 6 5 (2) Refuse collection customers may establish carry -out service for garbage 6 6 cans as follows: "Carry -out service" as used herein means collection 6 7 service for sunken containers or for any container not placed at the 6 8 property line as specified in subsection (1) above. Subsection 4.16 170(i) of the Yakima Municipal Code is hereby 7 4 amended to read as :follows • 7 5 4.16.170 Collection of garbage in residential district - Regulations 7 6 ... 7 7 (i) All can containers shall be placed for collection on regularly scheduled 7 8 pickup days in such a position that no employee or collector of the city 7 9 refuse division shall be respired to open any gate or 8 0 door or obstruction of any kind in Order to obtain` access to the same, 8 1 provided, however, that such employee or collector may open the door or 8 2 gate to an enclosure which is specifically designed and used solely for -the 8 3 keeping of such containers. 8 4 SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after lts passage, 8 5 approval, and publication as provided by law and by 'thety Char.-ter.
