AN ORDINANCE: relating to utility charges for domestic water service and
sewer service and providing that the water needed for
home kidney dialysis shall be available without charge to
residential customers.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
1 SECTION 1. NEW SUBSECTION A new subsection is added to
2 section 7 68.250 of the Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows.
3 7.68.250(E) Home Kidney Dialysis. A residential customer who undergoes
4 kidney dialysis at his or her home, or whose home is also the home of a diferrent
5 person who undergoes home kidney dialysis, shall not be required to pay utility
6 charges for domestic water service or sewer service for the quantity of water that
7 is necessary for the home dialysis. In order to be excused from utility charges
8 under this subsection, the residential customer must present to the Customer
9 Services Division written documentation from a recognized kidney dialysis
10 center certifying that the person requires dialysis and the quantity of water
11 needed for that person's dialysis.
12 SECTION 2. NEW SECTION A new section is added to chapter 7.60 of the
0 1 " 13 Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows.
4 7.60.080 Home Kidney Dialysis. See YMC 7 68.250(E)
15 SECTION 3 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage,
16 approval, and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter
