Home My WebLink About1992-3470 Renaming Streets a, • 3 4 7 0 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE renaming sections of South Eighth Street and South Ninth Street to Union Street, within the City of Yakima. WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service has notified the City of Yakima that Union Street, currently two blocks in length, has been causing confusion for the Postal Service as well as for other delivery companies and emergency vehicles, due to its position as part of a continuous roadway containing sections named South Eighth Street and South Ninth Streets on either side of Union Street; and WHEREAS, the City Council has found it in the best inter- est of the City and of the residents in the above - referenced vicinity that portions of South Eighth Street and South Ninth Street be renamed to be part of Union Street, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. The section of South Ninth Street between Fenton Street and Yakima Avenue is hereby renamed Union Strer so that Union Street now extends north to Yakima Avrnu Sr,ction 2. The section of South Eighth Street between Pine Street and East Spruce Street is hereby renamed Union Street, so that Union Street now extends south to Pine Street. Section 3.
