• ORDINANCE NO 93 5
AN ORDINANCE relating to licenses and business regulations, updating the law
dealing with how long property must be kept by pawn brokers as
second -hand dealers so that City ordinances will be in line with
state law; correcting statutory references; and amending footnote
1 to the heading of Chapter 5 64, and Sections 5 64 020, 5 54 060,
and 5 64 070, all of the City of Yakima Municipal Code.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1 Section 5 54 060 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"5.54.060 Property kept thirty days after receipt.
Property bought or received in pledge by any pawn broker shall
not be remo■ ed from that place of business, except when redeemed by,
or returned to the owner, W ithin thirty days after the receipt of the
property Property shall at all times during the ordinary hours of
business be open to inspection to an) commissioned law enforcement
officer of the state or any of its political subdivisions Property shall be
kept separate and apart from other goods for thirty days following such
purchase or receipt "

Section 2 Section 5 64 070 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"5.64.070 Property to be kept thirty days.
(1) Propert) bought or recei\ ed on consignment by any second-
hand dealer with a permanent place of business in the state shall not be
removed from that place of business except consigned property
returned to the owner, within thirty days after the receipt of the
propert) Propert) shall at all times during the ordinary hours of
business be open to inspection to any commissioned law enforcement
officer of the state or any of its political subdivisions.
(2) Propert) bought or received on consignment by any second-
hand dealer without a permanent place of business in the state, shall be
held within the cit) except consigned property returned to the owner,
within thirt) days after receipt of the property The property shall be
ax ailable ithin the cit) for inspection at reasonable times by any
commissioned laws enforcement officer of the state or any of its political
subdivisions."
Section 3 Section 5 64 020 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:

"5 64.020 Junk handling.
Any second -hand dealer as hereinabove defined may handle such
junk as defined by Section 5 42 010 as may be acquired as an incident to
the conduct of said business x.ithout first having obtained a junk
dealer's license under Chapter 5 42, or any amendment thereof "
Section 4 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its
passage, approval, and publication as provided by la\\ and by the City Charter
