[ 26 8(5 111 AN ORDINANCE relating to City government employees; providing for a life insurance program for City government employees; authorizing eligibility for certain retired City employees to participate in the City's hospital and medical insurance plan; amending Sub Section 2.04.030 A and adding Section 2.04.040 as a new section, both of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Sub Section 2.04.030 A of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.04.030 City Contributions. A. Life Insurance Plan. (1) Effective January 1, 1979, the City shall provide • a fully paid life insurance policy in an amount equal to the annual salary for all employees in the exempt classifi- cation as specified by Section 2.20.100 of the Municipal Code, as well as for the Chief of the Yakima Fire Depart- ment and the Chief, Captains and Lieutenants of' the Yakima Police Department. (2) Effective January 1, 1983, the City shall provide a fully paid $15,000 life insurance policy for Police Depart- ment Police Officers and Sergeants. (3) Effective January 1, 1981, the City shall provide a fully paid $10,000 life insurance policy for all Fire Department employees except the Chief of the Department. • (4) Effective January 1, 1979, the City shall provide a fully paid $5,000 life insurance policy for City employees within the bargaining unit of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 1122, and for all other employees defined by the policy as being eligible for coverage." Section 2. Section 2.04.040 is hereby enacted as a new section of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows: "2.04.040 Hospital And Medical Insurance -- Retired Employee Coverage. The following described retired City employees sha 1 be eligible to remain enrolled in the group hospital and medical insurance plan and to obtain coverage for their eligible dependents until the retired employee reaches sixty-five years of age by paying a premium (including the premium for dependents, if enrolled) equal to the actual group rate for coverage of active City employees and enrolled dependents: (1) Retired City employees who retired on or after January 1, 1982, and who at the time of their retirement worked in positions within the bargaining unit of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 1122; and • (2) Retired City employees who retired on or after January 1, 1983, and who at the time of their retirement worked in any of the following positions: (a) All Fire Department positions; (b) All commissioned Police Department Officers; (c) All exempt classifications specified by Section 2.20.100 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and 410 (d) All other positions defined by the policy as being eligible for coverage." 1 11 , Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
