HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-2693 RATES FOR DOMESTIC WATER SERVICE ORDINANCE NO. 2693 • AN ORDINANCE relating to public services and utilities; specifying g P � rates for domestic water service; and amending Sections 7.68.250, 7.68.251, 7.68.255 and Sub Section • 7.68.252 B, all of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Section 7.68.250 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.250 Water Services Charges. A. The one-month period is defined as any period of time from one day up to and including one month and 111 fourteen days, and the two-month period is defined as any period of time from one month and fifteen days to two months and fourteen days. Minimum ready-to-serve and consumption charges for water supplied outside the city shall be computed by multiplying the applicable rate above by 1.5." Section 2. Section 7.68.251 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.251 Bulk Rate For Municipal Purposes. A. The charge for domestic water used by the City of Yakima for filling swimming pools or wading pools in the city parks and for all city irrigation purposes, and the charge for all domestic water used for irrigation purposes by any municipal corporation which by agreement with the city makes playgrounds or recreational areas available for city park and recreation use, shall be as follows: 4110 1. Commencing June 13, 1983: First 5,000 cu. ft.. . . . . 150 per 100 cu. ft. Over 5,000 cu. ft 100 per 100 cu. ft. 2. Commencing January 1, 1984: First 5,000 cu. ft. 200 per 100 cu. ft. Over 5,000 cu. ft 100 per 100 cu. ft. B. Commencing June 13, 1983, the charge for water supplied through fire hydrants, when the water is used by • either a city department or a private person for a public improvement project authorized by the city, shall be based on a flat rate charge of 6 cents per 100 cubic feet; provided, commencing January 1, 1984, the flat rate charge shall be 7 cents per 100 cubic feet. No charge shall be made for water supplied through fire hydrants when the water is used for fire suppression or for maintenance and operation pur- poses by city departments." 411 Section 3. Section 7.68.255 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.255 Minimum Service Charges. A. The one-month period is defined as any period of time from one day up to and including one month and fourteen days, and the two-month period is defined as any period of • time from one month and fifteen days to two months and fourteen days. Minimum service charges for domestic water supplied outside the city shall be computed by multiplying the applicable meter size rate by 1.5." Section 4. Sub Section 7.68.252 B of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.252 Irrigation Rate 0t Domestic Water. B. (1) Commencing June 13, 1983, the charge for such water supplied shall be computed asfo11ows: An • amount equal to the maximum water meter' reading taken during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged under the regular domestic water rates. All water used on premises inside the city limits in excess of such maximum usage during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation season at the rate of seventeen cents per one hundred cubic feet and all • water used on premises outside the city limits in excess of such maximum usage during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation season at the rate of twenty cents per one hundred cubic feet; provided, the rate for domestic water consumed by the State of Washington or any agency thereof, or any munici- pal corporation, of a classification other than that charging the bulk rate as provided by Sub Section A of Section 7.68.251 of this chapter, and used exclusively for irrigation purposes on property owned or occupied by such consumers shall be seventeen cents per one hundred cubic feet, regardless of whether the property served is situated within or without the corporate limits of the , City of Yakima. (2) Commencing January 1, 1984, the charge for such water supplied shall be computed as follows: An amount equal to the maximum water meter reading taken during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged under the regular domestic water rates. All water used • on premises inside the city limits in excess of such maximum usage during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation season at the rate of twenty cents per one hundred cubic feet and all water used on premises outside the city limits in excess of such maximum usage during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation season at -3- • at the rate of twenty-three cents per one hundred cubic 1 111 feet; provided, the rate for domestic water consumed by the State of Washington or any agency thereof, or any municipal corporation, of a classification other than that charging the bulk rate as provided by Sub Section A of Section 7.68.251 of this chapter, and used exclusively for irrigation purposes on property owned or occupied by such consumers shall be twenty cents per one hundred cubic 'feet, regardless of whether the property served is situated within or without the corporate limits of the City of Yakima." Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
