1. Roll Call
Council: Mayor Kathy Coffey, presiding,Assistant Mayor Dulce Gutierrez, Council Members Holly
Cousens, Kay Funk, Brad Hill, Carmen Mendez(present at 4:22 p.m.)and Jason White
Staff: City Clerk Sonya Claar Tee
2. Interviews of Interim City Manager applicants
Human Resources Director Connie Mendoza reported candidate Larry Patterson has withdrawn from
consideration,which leaves two candidates.
Council members interviewed Alex Meyerhoff and James Patrick via Skype for the Interim City
Manager position.
MOTION: Hill moved and Cousens seconded to adjourn to executive session to evaluate
the qualifications of an applicant for public employment for up to 16 minutes. The motion
carried by unanimous vote.
Executive Session was held and adjourned at 5:28 p.m. and the meeting reconvened.
MOTION: Cousens moved and White seconded to enter into contract negotiations with Alex
Meyerhoff. The motion failed by a 4-3 vote with Gutierrez, Funk, Mendez and Hill voting no.
MOTION: Funk moved to make a contract offer for a minimum of six months with a
possibility to renew for three months with Alex Meyerhoff. The motion failed for lack of second.
MOTION: Gutierrez moved and Mendez seconded to adjourn to an executive session for up
to 30 minutes to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment. The motion
carried by unanimous vote.
Executive Session was held and adjourned at 5:46 p.m. and the meeting reconvened.Assistant
Mayor Gutierrez stated she feels it is best to work with someone from the community and there is
talent here. Council Member Funk reported she believes a duration of the contract should be included
in any motions.
MOTION: Hill moved and Cousens seconded to enter into a contract with Alex Meyerhoff.
The motion carried by a 4-3 vote with Gutierrez, Funk and Mendez voting no.

MOTION: Gutierrez moved and Cousens seconded to adjourn to the next Council regular
meeting to occur now, October 1, 2019, at City Hall. The motion carried by unanimous vote. The
meeting adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
