AN ORDINANCE relating to public health and sanitation; levying a tax on licensed refuse colleqors; saving cer- tain taxes; and amending Subsection 4.16.180 C of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Subsection 4.16.180 C of the City of Yakima Muni- cipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "4.16.180 Collection of garbage in business class-- License Tax--Regulations. C. Commencing January 1, 1981, there is levied upon every person, association or corporation holding a license for the collection and hauling of garbage, refuse or debris within the City or in gathering the same within the City for disposal at some point or area outside of the City, a tax for the privilege of doing so, such tax to be equal to five percent of the cash receipts from all customers within the City served by the licensed holder. Such tax shall be due and payable in quarterly installments, and remittance therefor s1.all be made on or before thirty days after the end of the quarterly payment for which it is due." Section 2. Taxes levied for the balance of the year 1980 under the provisions of Subsection 4.16.180 C of the City of Yakima Muni- cipal Code prior to its amendment as in this ordinance provided, • and payable in accordance with the provisions of Subsection 4.16.180 C prior to January 30, 1981, shall not be affected by this ordinance and shall be due and payable as provided in said Subsection 4.16.180 C. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in fL1 force and effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
