AN ORDINANCE relating to city government administration; imposing
a fee, with certain exemptions, for taking certain
civil service examinations; enacting Chanter 2.45,
"Personnel Examination Fee", and Section 2.45.010
• thereof as a new chapter and new section of the City
of Yakima Municipal Code.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Chapter 2.45, "Personnel Examination Fee", and
Section 2.45.010 thereof are hereby enacted as a new chapter and
new section of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as fol-
lows:
"Chapter 2.45
411 PERSONNEL EXAMINATION FEE
2.45.010 Fee Imposed--Collection--Exemptions.
A. Fee Imposed. There is hereby imposed a fee
payable by every person who applies to take any examina-
• tion, other than a promotional examination, for any posi-
tion with the City which falls within any of the City's
civil service systems. The fee shall amount to the pro
rata cost, determined by the personnel office, which the
City pays a source other than city employees and agents
for preparing, supplying and grading the examination.
B. Collection. Except as provided in subsection
C of this section, the fee shall be paid to the person-
nel office at the time application is made to take any
such examination; and any applicant who fails or refuses
to pay the fee shall be ineligible to take the examina-
tion.
C. Exemption. Any applicant found by the personnel
officer to be unemployed at the time of making applica-
tion for the examination shall be exempt from paying the
fee imposed by this chapter."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty days after its passage, apnroval and publication as provided
by law and by the City Charter.
