HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-2513 RATES FOR DOMESTIC WATER SERVICE; PROVIDING THE EXERCISE OF A LIEN TO COLLECT DELINQUENT WATER SERVICE CHARGES ORDINANCE NO. 2513 AN ORDINANCE relating to public services and utilities; specifying rates for domestic water service; providing for the exercise of a lien to collect delinquent water service charges; and amending Sections 7.68.250, 7.68.251, 7.68.255 and Sub - sections 7.68.025 C and 7.68.252 B all of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Sub - section 7.68.025 C of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.025 Water service charges - When due Suspension of service - Hearing procedure. C. In the event of a delinquency in the payment of charges for domestic water service to any premises, the city shall exercise a lien against such premises by dis- continuing water service thereto and service to any such premises shall not be reinstated until all delinquencies and unpaid charges against such premises for water service, and for cut -off charges, together with a fifteen - dollar reinstatement fee, have been paid. Such lien shall not be for more than four months' charges due or to become due, as provided by law, and shall be exercised subject to the provisions of Section 7.68.271 of this chapter." Section 2. Section 7.68.250 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.250 Water service charges. The charge for domestic water supplied shall consist of�a ready -to -serve charge and a charge for water consumed, as follows: One -month Two -month Ready -to -serve charges: Period Period Meter Size 3/4" and smaller $ 1.25 $ 1.25 1" 1.88 2.50 1 1/2" 3.75 6.25 2" 7.50 13.75 3" 18.75 36.25 4" 30.00 58.75 6" 67.50 133.75 8" 120.00 237.50 10" 187.50 372.50 12" 270.00 537.50 Charges for water consumed per one hundred cubic feet: First 600 cu. ft $ .63 Next 600 cu. ft. (25,100- 50,000 cu. ft.) . .34 Over 50,000 cu. ft .20 The one-month period is defined as any period of time from one day up to and including one month and fourteen days, and the two-month period is defined as any period of time from one month and fifteen days to two months and fourteen days. Minimum ready-to-serve and consumption charges for water supplied outside the city shall be computed by mul- tiplying the applicable rate above by 1.5." 110 Section 3. Section 7.68.251 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.251 Bulk rate for municipal purposes. A. The charge for domestic water used by the City of Yakima for filling swimming or wading pools in City parks and for all city irrigation purposes, shall be as follows: First 5,000 cu. ft 104 per 100 cu. ft. Over 5,000 cu. ft. 50. per 100 cu. ft. B The charge for water supplied through fire hydrants, when the water is used by either a city department or a private person for a public improvement project authorized by the city, shall be based on a flat rate of six cents per one hundred cubic feet. No charge shall be made for water supplied through fire hydrants when the water is used for fire suppression or for maintenance and operation purposes by city departments." Section 4. Sub-section 7.68.252 B of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.252 Irrigation rate on domestic water. B The charge for such water supplied shall be computed as follows: An amount equal to the maximum water meter reading taken during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged under the regular domestic water rates. All water used on premises inside the city limits in excess of such maximum usage during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation season at the rate of thirteen cents per one hundred cubic feet and all water used on premises outside the city limits in excess of such maximum usage during the previous nonirrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation season at the rate of fifteen cents per one hundred cubic feet; provided, the rate for domestic water consumed by the state of Washington or any agency thereof, or any municipal corporation, and used execlusively for irrigation purposes on property owned or occupied by such consumers shall be thirteen cents per one hundred cubic feet, regardless of whether the property served is situated within or without the corporate limits of the city of Yakima. In computing amounts to be charged, the provisions of Section 7.68.030 shall apply." Section 5. Section 7.68.255 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "7.68.255 Minimum service charges. Minimum charges for domestic water supplied for the several sizes of meters shall", be as follows: ONE-MONTH TWO-MONTH Meter Size PERIOD PERIOD 3/4" and smaller $ 3.14 $ 5.03 -2- .. Minimum service charges for domestic water supplied outside the city shall be computed by multiplying the applicable meter size rate by 1.5." Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
