AN ORDINANCE imposing a tax on private and public refuse
collection businesses; providing for payment
of accrued taxes; and amending Sub Section
4.16.180 C and Section 7.64.020 of the City
of Yakima Municipal Code.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Sub Section 4.16.080 C of the City of Yakima
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"4.16.180 Collection of Garbage Business Class --
License and Tax -- Regulations.
C. License Tax Imposed -- Amount. Commencing
February 1, 1982, there is levied upon every person,
association or corporation holding a license for the
collection and hauling of garbage, refuse or debris
410 within the City or in gathering the same within the
City for disposal at some point or area outside of
the City, a tax for the privilege of doing so, such
tax to be equal to 6% of the cash receipts from all
customers within the City served by the license
holder. Such tax shall be due and payable in quar-
terly installments for quarters ending with the last
days of March, June, September and December of each
year; and remittance therefore shall be made on or
before thirty days after the end of the quarterly
period for which it is due."
Section 2. Section 7.64.020 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.64.020 Refuse Tax. Commencing February 1,
1982, there is levied against the Street and Refuse
Division of the Department of Public Works for the
City of Yakima a tax at the rate of 6% of the total
gross revenue of the municipal refuse fund derived
from receipts for refuse collection service charges."
Section 3. Taxes as would be imposed by Sub Section 4.16.180C
for the balance of the current year and for the month of January,
1982, shall be computed and paid at the rate prescribed and at
the time provided by Sub Section 4.16.180C prior to its amendment
by this ordinance; and taxes as would be imposed by Section 7.64.
020 for the balance of the current year, and for the month of
January, 1982, shall be computed and paid at the rate prescribed
411 by Section 7.64.020 before its amendment by this ordinance and
shall be paid at the time provided by Section 7.64.030 of the
City of Yakima Municipal Code.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as pro-
vided by law and by the City Charter.
