Roll Call 65 Council: Mayor Kathy Coffey, presiding, Assistant Mayor Dulce Gutierrez, Councilmembers Kay Funk, Brad Hill and Carmen Mendez Staff: Interim City Manager Cynthia Martinez, City Attorney Jeff Cutter, Interim Assistant City Manager Scott Schafer, Communication & Public Affairs Manager Randy Beehler and City Clerk Sonya Claar Tee Absent: Councilmembers Holly Cousens and Jason White 2. Agenda preview for September 3 and 17, 2019 draft agendas Interim City Manager Martinez reviewed the September 3 and 17, 2019 draft agendas. Councilmember Hill asked about reviewing the temporary status of Camp Hope, which will be added to an executive session on September 3. Assistant Mayor Gutierrez asked to have a Council Public Safety Committee report on the September 17 agenda. Councilmember Hill asked to have an HCNBC Council report on the September 17 agenda. Councilmembers discussed the public comment period and agreed to remove the request for an address on the form and replace with a city resident question. 3. City Manager update Interim Assistant City Manager Schafer provided an update on the LED Light Project and discussed that the City of Yakima has been delegated Pretreatment Control Authority over Union Gap and Terrace Heights. City Attorney Cutter reported the Tiger Mart property located at West Nob Hill has sold. Communication & Public Affairs Manager Beehler reviewed the 2020 Iegislative priority process. Human Resources Director Mendoza reported on the Interim City Manager search. It was Council consensus to add this as an executive session item on September 17, that staff prescreen the applications and reduce the number to be considered to eight, with a top four identified. Interim City Manager Martinez reviewed the updated Strategic Plan and the study session schedule for the remainder of the year. Page 1 of 2 66 4. Council Committee update None. 5. Adjournment MOTION: Gutierrez moved and Mendez seconded to adjourn to a City Council study session on August 29, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
