AN ORDINANCE relating to motor vehicle traffic; prohibiting driving while in a suspended or revoked status; providing penalties for violations; and enacting Section 9.25. 055 as a new section of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Section 9.25.055 is hereby enacted as a new section of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows: 9.25.055 Driving in a suspended or revoked status-- Penalties. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a motor vehicle on any highway in the City while that person is in a suspended or revoked status under the provisions of Chapter 29, Laws of 1975-1976 2nd Extraordinary Session (RCW Chapter 46.20). Upon a first conviction therefor, the person shall be punished by imprisonment of not less than 10 days, nor more than 6 months. Upon the second such conviction therefor, the person shall be punished by imprisonment of not less than 20 days, nor more than one year. Upon a third such conviction therefor, the person shall be punished by imprisonment for one year. There may also be imposed in con- nection with each conviction a fine of not more than five hundred dollars." Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
