AN ORDINANCE relating to city personnel; specifying the manner of
determining special assignment pay; and amending sub-
sections 2,20.088 (b) and 2.20.088 (f) of the City
of Yakima Municipal Code.
III BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Subsection 2.20.088 (b) of the City of Yakima Muni-
cipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.20.088 Uniform allowance--Special assignment_pay.
(b) When a salaried employee works in a higher classi-
fication for a period of one day or longer, performs substan-
tially all of the duties of such higher classification and
is not actually receiving supervised training for such
position, the employee shall be paid at the pay step in
the higher classification which is next higher in amount
above the employee's pay in the lower classification. The
provisions of this section shall not apply to management
personnel.
When an hourly employee works in a higher classification
for a period of one hour or longer, performs substantially
all of the duties of such higher classification and is not
• actually receiving supervised training for such position,
the employee shall be paid at the step in the higher
classification which is next higher in amount above the
employee's pay in the lower classification."
Section 2. Subsection 2.20.088 (f) of the City of Yakima Muni-
cipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.20.088 Uniform allowance--Special assignment pay.
(f) When any member of the fire suppression force of
the fire department is temporarily assigned by the chief of
the department to a position in a higher classification for
a period of six hours or longer, such member shall be paid
at the pay step in the higher classification which is next
higher in amount above his current salary. The amount of
payment for such special assignment shall be computed accord-
ing to applicable provisions of Section 2.40.100 of this code
The payment for any such special assignment duty shall be
subject to the availability of department funds for such pur-
pose."
III Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided
by law and by the City Charter.
