AN ORDINANCE relating to public services and utilities; establish-
ing water and sewer service charges and water instal-
lation charges; amending Sections 7.60.050, 7.68.043,
7.68.250 and 7.68.282 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 10 Section 7.60.050 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.60.050 Meters on water dischar.ed--Sewer service
char:es for 'remises not receivin: cit water. All premises
shall have approved meters on all water supplies which are
ultimately discharged into the city sanitary sewer system,
or in the alternative shall meter the liquid waste so dis-
charged. The amount of sewer service charges for occupied
or improved premises which do not receive city domestic
water service, or which have auxiliary water supplies,
shall be 75% of the water service charge for a like quantity
of city water; provided, in no event shall the sewer service
charge be less than $2.20 per month for premises inside
the city limits, nor less than $3.30 per month for premises
• outside the city limits."
Section 2. Section 7.68.043 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.68.043 Service installation charges. Applicants
for new water service installations shall pay to the city
treasurer the installation charges as provided below which
payment shall be made prior to such installation being
commenced:
Three-quarter inch service pipe with five-
eighths inch by three-quarter inch meter •.... $300.00
Three-quarter inch service pipe with three-
quarter inch by three-quarter inch meter .... 320.00
One inch service pipe with one inch meter ... 430.00

The installation charge for a new water service where

Section 3. Section 7.68.250 of the City of Yakima Municipal

416 Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.68.250 Water service charges. The charge for domes-
tic water supplied shall consist of ready-to-serve charge and
a charge for water consumed as follows:

Customers who use over five hundred thousand cubic feet of
water monthly shall be billed monthly. The one-month period is
defined as any period of time from one day up to and including
one month and fourteen days, and the two-month period is defined
as any period of time from one month and fifteen days to two
months and fourteen days.
Minimum ready-to-serve and consumption charges for water
supplied outside the city shall be computed by multiplying the
applicable rate above by 1.5."
Section 4. Section 7.68.282 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:

"7.68.282 Fire service charges. The monthly charge
for each active fire service shall be as follows:

The inside diameter of the pipe leading to a fire hydrant
shall determine the service charge. Any fire hydrant installed
and maintained by the city outside the city limits will be
billed as a fire service, which charge shall be terminated
at such time as the responsible consumer's property is annexed
to the city."
Section 5. The rates adopted by Sections 1 through 4 of this
ordinance shall be applicable to charges made for material furnished,
service performed and water consumed commencing January 1, 1976,
and rates as they existed prior to the amendments enacted by this
ordinance shall continue to be applicable to charges made for
materials, services and water consumption prior to January 1, 1976.
Section 6. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and
welfare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication
as provided by law and by the City Charter.
