AN ORDINANCE relating to funds and accounts; creating a Trolley
Operating Fund and designating its purpose, its
source of funding, and providing for expenditures
therefrom; enacting Chapter 3.96, and various sec-
tions thereof, as a new chapter and as new sections
111 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring
an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Chapter 3.96, Trolley Operating Fund, and various
sections thereof are hereby enacted as a new chapter and as new
sections of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows:
"CHAPTER 3.96
Trolley Operating Fund
3.96.010 Fund Created--Purposes. There is created a
a special fund to be known as the Trolley Operating Fund.
The money in the fund shall be used to pay for the operation
ancrmaintenance of trolley cars and the trolley system of
the City.
3.96.020 Source of Funds. Money to be deposited in
the Trolley Operating Fund shall be derived from trolley
fares, from allocations and transfers of money to such
fund made by the Yakima City Council, and from such other
sources as may be designated from time to time by the Yakima
City Council.
3.96.030 Expenditures. Expenditures from the Trolley
Operating Fund shall be made only for the purposes specified
in Section 3.96.010 of this chapter. No expenditure shall
be made from such fund unless the Yakima City Council shall
approve such expenditure by passing an ordinance appropriating
money within the fund for the purpose for which the expenditure
is to be made, or by including an appropriation for such
purpose in the budget."
Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and wel-
fare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as
provided by law and by the City Charter.
