For Meeting of: February 19, 2019 ITEM TITLE: Resolution declaring a 1995 Simon Duplex LTI ladder truck surplus and authorizing its sale to Spokane County Fire District#4 SUBMITTED BY: Aaron Markham, Fire Chief SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The City of Yakima is seeking approval of a resolution declaring a 1995 Simon Duplex LTI ladder truck as surplus to the needs of both the Yakima Fire Department and the City of Yakima, and authorizing the City Manager to direct its sale to Spokane County Fire District#4 for$50,000 plus tax. The fire truck will assist in improving the emergency services provided to their citizens. R-2019- A RESOLUTION declaring a 1995 Simon Duplex LTI ladder truck to be surplus to the needs of the City, and authorizing its sale to Spokane County Fire District 4. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima (City) owns one used 1995 Simon Duplex LTI ladder truck (VIN# 1S91F74J4S1020013, License Plate number 18362-D, and Fire Department identification number 5503) for which the City nor the Yakima Fire Department have no immediate or foreseeable use, and are surplus to the needs of both the City and Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Spokane County Fire District 4 has submitted an offer of Fifty-Thousand Dollars ($50,000) for said ladder truck; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of both the City and the Yakima Fire Department to sell said ladder truck forthwith to Spokane County Fire District 4 rather than sell the truck at public auction for the highest bid received of Six-Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($6,200), which is under the reserve amount set by the City, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned 1995 Simon Duplex LTI ladder truck (VIN# 1 S91 F74J4S1020013, License Plate number 18362-D and Fire Department identification number 5503) to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the Yakima Fire Department, and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell said ladder truck to Spokane County Fire District 4 for Fifty-Thousand Dollars ($50,000) plus tax.
