AN ORDINANCE relating to traffic control; regulating parking;
amending Sections 9,35.040 and 9.75.060; enacting
new Sections 9.10.041, 9.30.030 and 9.35.045; and
repealing Subsection 9.75.030 (a) (8), all of the
City of Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring an
111 emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 9.35.040 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows;
"9.35.040 Obedience to Sins or Markin:s. Upon those
streets which have been signed or marked for angle parking,
parallel parking or center-street parking, no person shall
park or stand a vehicle in any manner other than that indi-
cated by such signs or markings nor stand or park any portion
of a vehicle outside the confines of such markings."
Section 2. Section 9.75.060 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended by adding thereto subsection (b) (19) to
read as follows.
"9.75.060 Parkin: Time Limited on Certain Streets. In
accordance with Section 9.38.050, the following parking time
limits are established on the designated streets:
(b) Two-hour parking:
(19) Second Street from Walnut to "B" Street."
Section 3. Section 9.10.041 is hereby enacted as a new section
Of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows:
"9.10.041 Seed Limit - 2nd Street Pedestrian Mall. It
shall be unlawful for the operator of any motor vehicle to
operate the same within the pedestrian mall on 2nd Street between
Walnut and "B" Street at a speed greater than is reasonable and
prudent under the conditions, having regard for the actual and
potential hazards then existing, or in any event in excess of
10 miles per hour when signs are postedo specifying that speed
limit within the mall area."
Section 4. Section 9.30.030 is hereby enacted as a new section
411 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows:
"9,30.030 Pedestrian Ri:ht-of-Wa - 2 nd Street Pedestrian
Mall. Within the pedestrian mall on 2nd Street between Walnut
and "B" Street, pedestrians have the right-of-way over motor
vehicles, and it shall be unlawful for the operator of any
motor vehicle to fail to yield the right-of-way to any pedes-
,
trian within the mall area when signs are posted therein with
the words 'Yield To Pedestrians' or other words of similar
import."
Section 5. Section 9.35.045 is hereby enacted as a new sec-
tion of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows:

"9,35.045 Center7StreetParking. The City Traffic
IP Engineer shall determine upon what streets, other than those
formin a
center- of gITTI or peg
and
shall sign or mark the same for center-street parking."
Section 6. Subsection 9,75.030 (a) (8) of the City of Yakima
Municipal. Code is hereby repealed,
Section 7. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and wel-
fare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage, approva, and publication, as
provided_by law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 5th day
of November, 1973.
