HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/28/1980 Special Meeting 482 SPECIAL MEETING MARCH 28, 1980 The City Council met in session on this date at 10:00 A.M. in the Con- ference Room at City Hall, Yakima, Washington, for the purpose of inter- viewing Council candidates. Council members present were Mayor Betty L. Edmondson, Henry Beauchamp, Lynn Buchanan, Lynn Carmichael, Shirley Doty, and Don Hinman. Council members asked questions pertaining to various City matters of Council candidate Bruce Crest, 816 South 17th Avenue. Council members asked questions pertaining to various City matters of Council candidate Rex Newland, 55 West Washington Avenue. Council members asked questions pertaining to various City matters of Council candidate Clarence Barnett, 916 South 17th Avenue. II/ Follbwing discussion regarding the next step in the procedure, it was MOVED by Hinman, seconded by Carmichael to go into Executive Session to discuss strengths and weaknesses of the various Council candidates and no vote at all will be taken: carried, Beauchamp, Buchanan, Carmichael, Doty, Edmondson and Hinman voting aye by voice vote. Upon completion of an approximate 15 minute Executive Session, a secret written ballot vote was taken. Mayor Edmondson announced that Bruce Crest had received the majority- of Council members votes. It was MOVED by Hinman, seconded by Beauchamp that a unanimous vote be cast for Bruce Crest to be the individual to fill the vacancy created in Council Dis- trict 2: carried, Beauchamp, Buchanan, Carmichael, Doty, Edmondson and Hinman voting aye by voice vote. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at the hour of 12:11 P.M.
