HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-1468 0f',41NANCE NO. 1 AN ORDINANCE relating to personnel; specifying city employees eligible for leaves of absence; amending Section 2.40.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring an emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Section 2.40.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.40.010 Eligible Employees. All employees of the City of Yakima shall be eligible for vacation leave, sick leave, civil leave, military leave and holiday pay except as follows: (a) Temporary, seasonal or emergency employees shall not be eligible for any leave or holiday privileges. (b) Leave and holiday privileges for fire department per- sonnel shall be governed by Section 2.22.030 of this code. (c) Police department employees and:lire department employees eligible for benefits provided by the Law Enforcement Officers' and Fire Fighters' Retirement System, R.C.W. Chapter 41.26, shall not be entitled to sick leave benefits conferred by this chapter, provided, such employees shall be accorded leaves of absence as provided by Subsections 2.40.030 (B) (4) 410 and 2.40.030 (B) (5) of this code." Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
