HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-1474 ORDINANCE NO. / AN ORDINANCE relating to City personnel; specifying contributions to be made by the City to payment of premiums for a City employees' group insurance plan; authorizing special assignment pay; adopting a longevity plan for City employees; amending Section 2.04.030 and 2.24.010 and subsection 2.40.020 B., and adding subsection 2.20.088 (g) of the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring an emergency. 110 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Section 2.04.030 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.04.030 City Contributions. A. Life Insurance Plan. Effective January 1, 1973, the City shall pay the full premium for each employee covered by the group life insurance plan adopted by Section 2.04.010 of this chapter; provided, the amount of the premium to be so paid by the City shall not exceed one dollar and thirty-seven cents per month for each employee covered by such plan. B. Hospital and Medical Insurance Plan. Effective January 1, 1973, the City shall contribute the amount of three dollars per month for each member of the Police and Fire Departments whc is covered by the LEFF pension act and who has enrolled his depen- dents to be covered by the group hospital and medical plan adopted by Section 2.04.010 of this chapter; and the City shall contribute the amount of thirteen dollars and fifty cents for each other employee enrolled in such pl Section 2. Section 2.24.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code 410 is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.24.010 Longevity plan - Eligibility - Restrictions. Commencing January 1, 1973, those employees of the City of Yakima who are regularly and continuously employed full time, and who have completed periods of service as hereinafter set forth, shall receive compensation, called longevity pay, in addition to their regular salary, according to the following schedule, to be paid on the thirty-first day of December and the first day of July of each year. Years Service Longevity Compensation At least five years and less than ten years . . . $10.00 per mo. At least ten years and less than fifteen years. . . 15.00 per mo. At least fifteen years and less than twenty years • 20.00 per mo. Twenty years or more 25.00 per mo. Provided that upon termination of employment of anyone entitled to such longevity pay, such person shall receive a longevity payment, according to the above schedule, for the number of months of eligibility served by such employee from the date on which the immediately previous longevity payment was made. Such payment shall not be made for fractions of a month, and if termination of employment occurs on or before the fifteenth day of any month, that month shall not be counted as one for which longevity pay is to be made, and if termination of employment occurs after the fifteenth day of any month, that month shall be counted as one full month for which longevity pay is to be made. Provided, further, that no such longevity pay shall be paid to any employee who is discharged from employment for disciplinary reasons, or, who terminates his employment without giving at least two weEks notice in writing of such termination." Section 3. Subsection 2.40.020 B. of the City of Yakima 141,:±c±- pal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.40.020 Vacation Leave B. Accumulation of Vacation Commencing January 1, 1973, vacation leave may be accumulated not to exceed 240 hours." Section 4. Subsection 2.20.088 (g) is hereby adopted as a new subsection of the City of Yakima Municipal Code to read as follows: "2.20.088 Special Assignment Pay (g) When any member of the Police Department is assigned by the Chief of the Department to a duty position which requires operation of a motorcycle, such member shall be paid fifteen dollars a month, in addition to his regular salary, for each month that he operates a motorcycle more than fifty percent of his total duty time." Section 5. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter. • PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this ilbi of December, 1972.
