Open record public hearing to consider the Yakima Planning
Commission's recommendation on a Comprehensive Plan
Amendment (CPA#002-18) and Rezone (RZ#003-18) request
submitted by Yakima Valley Farmworkers Clinic

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Norden Planning Services, on behalf of Yakima Valley Farmworkers Clinic, submitted
Comprehensive Plan Map Amendment (CPA), Rezone, and Environmental Review applications
for six (6) parcels totaling 1.83 acres in the vicinity of South 7th Street and Wilson Lane. The
property owner is requesting to change the Future Land Use Map designation from Mixed
Residential to Commercial Mixed Use and to concurrently rezone from Two -Family Residential
(R-2) to General Commercial (GC). After holding a study session on June 27, 2018 and a public
hearing on August 8, 2018, the Yakima Planning Commission recommended approval of the
Comp Plan Amendment and Rezone applications, with a modification to also change the Future
Land Use of parcels 191330-41429 and 191330-41430 from Mixed Residential to Commercial
Mixed Use (zoning of these additional parcels will remain R-2). The Findings were signed by the
chair on August 22, 2018.
In accordance with YMC 16.10.090, the City Council shall direct planning staff to prepare
legislation to approve, approve with conditions, or deny each amendment under consideration;
and at a subsequent City Council meeting enact an Ordinance adopting the decision reached at
the public hearing.
The complete record was distributed to City Council members in their October 16, 2018 agenda
packet. Please bring those materials to the public hearing. More information regarding the 2018

The Public Hearing notice has been provided to all Yakima -area media, including Tu Decides,
KDNA Radio, El Sol de Yakima, Hispanavision, Bustos Media, and El Mundo.

BOARD/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
The Yakima Planning Commission held a public hearing on August 8, 2018 and recommended
approval of the requests. The chair signed the Commission's Findings on August 22, 2018.
