ORDINANCE NO. -1W
AN ORDINANCE relating to health and sanitation; adopting regulations .
and specifying fees for operation and use of city refuse
disposal sites; amending Section 4.16.220 and repealing
Subsection 4.16.180 (h) of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 4.16.220 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"4.16.220 City operation of refuse disposal site -- Fees.
A. Land fill method. The sanitary land fill method
shall be the official method of disposing of refuse in the
city.
B. Hours of operation. Any refuse disposal site
operated 'by the City shall be open to the public for dis-
posal of refuse between the hours of 8 o'clock a.m. and
5 o'clock p.m. on week days and between the hours of 9
o'clock a.m. and 3 o'clock p.m. on Saturdays, and shall be
closed to the public on Sundays and city holidays.
C. Fees. No person shall deposit refuse at any refuse
disposal site operated by the City without paying a fee
according to the following schedule:
411 Truck $1.00 per cubic yard with a
maximum of $5 per load
Pickup or trailer $1.00
Automobile (including
station wagon) $0.50
Dead cat, dog or other
small animal $0.25
Dead horse, cow or other
large animal $3.00
Provided, the fee for a refuse collector licensed to
operate in the City of Yakima in accordance with Section
4.16.180 of this chapter shall be $4.50 for each truck load
or partial truck load.
Provided, further, the provisions of this subsection
shall not apply to employees of the Municipal Garbage Divi-
sion of the Department of Public Works of the City of Yakima
411 in the course of their regular duties."
Section 2. Subsection 4.16.180 (h) of the City of Yakima Munici-
pal Code is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 3. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare
of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 29th day of
November, 1971.
