21I ERSEAS, the Constitution of the t nitedStates of America, guardian of
our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated
to rule by law; and
`WIFEREAS, September 17, 2018, marks the two hundred thirty-first
anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the t nitedStates of America by
the Constitutional Convention; and
21%ifEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this
magnfcent document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic
celebrations which will commemorate it; and
rWittEREAS, public raw 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each
year by the President of the t nitedStates of America designating September 17
through 23 as Constitution Week.
NOW DfEREFORE, I, Kathy Coffey, Mayor of the City of (Yakima and
on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekof September 17 through
23, 2018 as
'CONSTITUTION WEEK"
and askour citizens to reaffirm the ideals the Framers of the Constitution had in
1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian
of our liberties.
