AN ORDINANCE relating to licenses and business regulations; requiring
licenses and specifying license fees for operating amuse-
ment devices; amending Section 5.12.020 of the City of
Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 5.12.020 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code
• is hereby amended to read as follows:
"5.12.020 Licenses required for certain amusement devices- -
fees.
1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corpora-
tion or association to install, maintain or operate in any
business establishment or for the purpose of profit any of
the following amusement devices without first obtaining from
the City Clerk a license so to do and without first paying
to the City the applicable license fee in the following res-
pective amounts:
(1) Shuffleboards; $50 each.
(2) Miniature bowling machines or bowling board,
ray guns, dart throwing devices and similar amusement
devices; $25 each.
The fees specified by this subsection are annual fees,
and shall be paid in full prior to January 1 of each
year to be effective for the following year.
2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corpora-
tion or association to install, or operate in any
business establishment or for the purpose of profit any of
the following amusement devices without first obtaining from
the City Clerk a license so to do and without first paying
to the City the applicable license fee in the following res
pective amounts:
(1) Pin -ball machines or games, games of skill or
amusement, and similar amusement devices, including any
automatic machine or device, except as mentioned in sub-
section 1 above of this section and except an automatic
music machine, wherein a person deposits a coin, disk
or slug and in return therefor receives the opportunity
of playing or operating such machine; $100 for each
machine for the six month period from January 1 through
June 30 of each year, and $100 for each machine for the
six month period from July 1 through December 31 of
each year, which fee shall be paid in advance of Januar:
1 and July 1 of each year to be effective for the
following six months period specified herein.
3. In the event any person, firm, corporation or asso-
ciation commences or enlarges activities required to be
licensed by this section during any applicable license
period of any calendar year or any six months license period,
as the case may be, the license required by this section
shall be obtained and the entire applicable annual or semi-
annual license fee shall be paid before commencing or enlarg-
ing such activities."

Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare
of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby declared
to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immedi-
ately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law
411 and by the City Charter.
