AN ORDINANCE relating to zoning; specifying use regulations for B -1,
Modified Business Zone; and amending Section 12.28.010
of the City of Yakima Municipal Code.
WHEREAS, pursuant to due notice, the Planning Commission of the
City of 'Yakima held a public hearing on its resolution of intention to
• amend Section 12.28.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and as
a result of that hearing, the Planning Commission did recommend such
an amendment to the City Council, and
WHEREAS, on March 16, 1970, pursuant to due notice, the City
Council held its public hearing on the amendment recommended by the
Planning Commission, and as a result of its hearing, the City Council
finds that the recommendation of the Planning Commission should be
approved and that Section 12.28.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code should be amended as provided below, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 12.28.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"12.28.010 Use Regulations. In a B -1 Zone, no building
shall be erected, reconstructed or structurally altered, nor
shall any building or land be used for any purpose except as here-
inafter specifically provided and allowed by this chapter, sub -
ject to the provisions of Chapter 12.60 governing off - street
parking requirements. In a B -1 zone, the following uses only
are permitted:
(a) Multiple family dwelling and apartment houses.
(b) Medical and dental clinics, including establish-
ments dispensing pharmaceutical, optical or orthopedic
prescriptions only.
(c) Professional office buildings for the use of
architects, accountants, engineers, lawyers, administrative
offices and other offices providing professional services
and carrying no merchandise or stock in trade.
(d) Kindergartens and nursery schools.
• (e) Churches, provided they meet the requirements and
standards as specified for the same use in an R -1 zone.
(f) Swimming pools, provided they meet the requirements
and standards as specified for the same use in an R -1 zone.
(g) Special property uses specifically allowed in a
B -1 zone."
Section,2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided
by law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 16th day
of March, 1970.
