HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-835 ORDINANCE NO. 7 AN ORDINANCE creating a special fund to be known as the Transit Fund; specifying the purpose of such fund; specifying the sources of revenue for such fund; specifying expenditures to be made from such fund; adding Chapter 3.68, "Transit Fund", as a new chapter to the City of Yakima Municipal Code; and declaring an emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. There is hereby added Chapter 3.68 as a new chapter 41 the City of Yakima Municipal Code to follow existing Chapter 3.66 thereof, which new chapter shall be numbered and entitled as follows, and shall contain several sections, numbered, titled and providing as follows: "Chapter 3.68 TRANSIT FUND Sections: 3.68.010 Fund Created Purpose. 3.68.020 Source of Funds. 3.68.030 Expenditures 3.68.010 FUND CREATED -- PURPOSE. There is hereby created a special fund to be known as the Transit Fund. The money in said fund shall be used to pay expenses of maintenance and operation, including salaries, and capital needs of the public bus transportation system operated by • the City of Yakima. 3.68.020 SOURCE OF FUNDS. All money derived from the housing unit transit subsidy tax and all revenue obtained from operating the public bus transportation system of the City shall be placed into said Transit Fund. Additional money may be placed into said fund, from time to time, by the Yakima City Council pursuant to and in accordance with applicable laws. 3.68.030 EXPENDITURES. Expenditures from the Transit Fund shall be made only for the purposes specified in Sec- tion 3.68.010 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. No expenditure shall be made from such fund unless the Yakima City Council shall approve such expenditure by passing an Ordinance appropriating money within the fund for the pur- pose for which the expenditure is to be made, or by includ- ing an appropriation for such purpose in the budget." Secticn_2. This Ordinance is one to provide for the immediate, preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare 0 of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby de- clared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
