AN ORDINANCE providing for the annexation by the City of Yakima of cer-
tain property contiguous to the City of Yakima and zoning
said property.
WHEREAS, proceedings have been held in accordance with Chapter
128 of the Laws of 1945, as amended, and Chapter 282 of the Laws of
A I ' 1961 for the annexation of the property hereinafter described, and
WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commis-
sion of the City of Yakima, a hearing was held pursuant to legal noticE
upon the zoning and land use classification of said property herein-
after described and annexed, and
WHEREAS, said Planning Commission duly recommended that said pro-
perty be annexed to the City of Yakima and made recommendations as to
the zoning for said property, and
WHEREAS, said proposed area to be annexed to the City of Yakima
is more than 10 acres in area, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that it would
approve the proposed annexation and that it would require the property
III owners of such area to assume the existing indebtedness of the City of
Yakima, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 282, Laws of
1961, a majority of the review board comprised of the Mayor of the City
of Yakima, the Chairman of the Board of Yakima County Commissioners,
the Chairman of the School Board of Yakima School District No. 7, the
Representative of the State Department of Commerce and Economic Devel
opment, and a Resident and Property Owner of the area proposed to be
annexed, met and considered all of the factors set forth in said Chap-
ter 282, Laws of 1961, and at the conclusion of said meeting made and
entered their unanimous findings and determinations with respect to
0 such annexation and recommended to the City Council of the City of
Yakima that said proposed area be annexed to the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to due and legal notice as provided by law and
by the City Charter, a public hearing was held upon said petition for
annexation before the City Council of the City of Yakima on October 24,
1966, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such property should be an-
nexed to the City of Yakima and further finds that the property should
be zoned as hereinafter set forth for the reasons that such zoning and
classification is in accord with good planning and with the Comprehen-
sive Plan of the City of Yakima, that the majority of the property
• owners in the vicinity do not oppose the classification or the annexa-
tion, that the needs of the City and community do require the herein-
after set forth zoning classifications, and that the highest and best
use for said property is as hereinafter determined, now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section I. That the following described property contiguous to
the City of Yakima, Washington, to-wit:
Beginning 927.4 feet south 24°12' east from a brass monument
at the point of intersection of the north line of the south-
east quarter of Section 30, Township 13 North, Range 19,
E.W.M., with the centerline of South First Street; thence
south 65°48' west 339.90 feet; thence south 24°12' east 100.05
feet; thence south 65°48' west 21.60 feet; thence south 24°12'
east 140.15 feet; thence south 75°39' west 114.80 feet; thence
south 75°16' west 272.0 feet to the east right of way line of
the Northern Pacific Railway Company; thence northwesterly,
111 along the east right of way line of the Northern Pacific Rail-
way Company, to the north line of the southwest quarter of
said Section 30; thence west, along the north line of the south-
west quarter of said Section 30, to the west right of way of
the Union Pacific Railroad Company; thence southeasterly, along
the west right of way line of the Union Pacific Railroad Com-
pany, to the south line of said Section 30; thence east, along
the south line of said Section 30, to the centerline of South
First Street; thence northwesterly along the centerline of
South First Street, to the point of beginning;
is hereby annexed to the City of Yakima, Washington.
Section 2. That the owners of the hereinbefore described real
property annexed to the City of Yakima shall be required to assume ex-
isting indebtednesses of the City of Yakima.
Section 3. The hereinbefore described real property annexed to
the City of Yakima is hereby zoned as follows:
(a) The following described property is hereby zoned as M-I,
Light Industrial Zone:
Beginning 927.4 feet south 24°12' east from a brass monument
at the point of intersection of the north line of the south-
east quarter of Section 30, Township 13 North, Range 19,
E.W.M., with the centerline of South First Street; thence
south 65°48' west 339.90 feet; thence south 24°12' east 100.05
feet; thence south 65°48' west 21.60 feet; thence south 24°12'
east 140.15 feet; thence south 75°39' west 114.80 feet; thence
south 75°16' west 272.0 feet to the east right-of-way line of

the Northern Pacific Railway Company; thence southeasterly
along the east right-of-way line of the Northern Pacific
Railway Company to the south line of said Section 30; thence
east along the south line of said Section 30 to the centerline
of South First Street; thence northwesterly.along the center-
line of South First Street, to the point of beginning.
(b) The following described property is hereby zoned as M-2,
Heavy Industrial Zone:
Beginning at the intersection of the north line of the south-
west quarter of Section 30, Township 13 North, Range 19, E.W.M.,
and the east right-of-way line of the Northern Pacific Railway
Company, thence westerly along the north line of the southwest
quarter of said Section 30, to the west right-of-way line of
the Union Pacific Railroad Company; thence southeasterly along
the west right-of-way line of the Union Pacific Railroad Com-
pany to the south line of said Section 30'; thence easterly,
along the south line of said Section 30 to the east right-of-
way line of the Northern Pacific Railway Company, thence north-
. westerly along said east right-of-way line of the Northern
Pacific Railway Company to the north line of the southwest
quarter of said Section 30 and the point of beginning.
Section 4. That the next regularly amended Use District Map pre-
pared by and for the City of Yakima shall show said property as here-
.
inbefore zoned and classified.
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Auditor of
Yakima County and with the Board of County Commissioners of Yakima .
County, Washington.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30
days after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 24th day of
October, 1966.
