AN ORDINANCE relating to traffic control; establishing maximum speed
limits on City streets; and amending Section 9.28.060 (b)
of the City of Yakima Municipal Code.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 9.28.060 (b) of the City of Yakima Municipal
0 Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"9.28.060 (b) Subject to subsection (a) of this section,
it shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to operate
the same within the City of Yakima at a speed in excess of the
following:
(1) Twenty-five miles per hour: Through out the city
except as otherwise limited by this code.
(2) Twenty miles per hour: When passing any marked
school or public playground or park crosswalk, when such
• marked crosswalk is fully posted with standard portable
school or speed control signs. The speed zone at the
crosswalk shall extend three hundred feet in either direc-
tion from the marked crosswalk.
(3) Thirty miles per hour: On the following streets
in areas not otherwise posted:
(a) North and South First Street from "D" Street
to Lenox Avenue.
• (b) Nob Hill Boulevard from 10th Street to 32nd
Avenue.
(c) Tieton Drive from 5th Avenue to the west
city limits.
(d) Summitview Avenue from 7th Avenue to the
west city limits.
(e) Lincoln Avenue from 8th Street to the west
city limits.
(f) 5th Avenue from "1" Street to Tieton Drive.
(g) 3rd Avenue from Walnut Street to the South
city limits.
(h) "1" Street from 6th Avenue to North First
Street.
(i) West Yakima Avenue from Ith Avenue to 36th
Avenue.
(j) Mead Avenue from 16th Avenue to east city
limits.
(k) South 16th Avenue from Nob Hill Boulevard
to Mead Avenue.
(1) South 24th Avenue from Nob Hill Boulevard
to Washington Avenue.
(m) Fair Avenue from Terrace Heights Way to
South 10th Street.
(n) South 10th Street from Fair Avenue to Nob
Hill Boulevard.
(o) North 16th Avenue from Lincoln Avenue to
• Fruitvale Boulevard.
(p) 6th Street from Nob Hill Boulevard to
Lincoln Avenue.
(q) South 3rd Street from South First Street to
Walnut Street.
(r) South 2nd Street from South 3rd Street to
Walnut Street.
(s) 40th Avenue from Nob Hill Boulevard to north
city limits.
(t) East Yakima Avenue from 6th Street to 9th
Street.
(u) 8th Street from "E" Street to Yakima Avenue.
(v) Pacific Street from 3rd Street to IOth Street..
(4) Thirty -five miles per hour:
(a) Englewood Avenue.
(b) 32nd Avenue from Lincoln Avenue to Engle-
wood Avenue.
(c) Summitview Avenue where the same constitutes
a boundary between the City of Yakima and Yakima
County.
(d) Washington Avenue.
(e) South I.6th Avenue from Mead Avenue to south city
limits.
(f) Nob Hill Boulevard from .32nd Avenue to west
city limits.
(g) North First Street _from north city limits to
"D" Street.
(.h) Terrace Heights Way from east city I imits to
9th Street.
(5) Forty miles per hour:
(a) South First Street from Lenox Avenue to south
city Iimits.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided
by law and by the City Charter.
