Fo.:2-;? 0 AN ORDINANCE relating to electrical wiring and electrical equipment; adopting by reference the "National Electrical Code, 1965 Edition" (National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet No. 70) and the "rules and regulations for installing,electrical wires and equipment" of the Elec- trical Inspection Division of the Department of Labor & Industries of the State of Washington, Edition of March 1, 1966, as the official Electrical Code of the !II City of Yakima; providing for the enforcement thereof; and amending Sections 11.16.010, 11.16.020 and 11.16.030, and repealing Sections 11.16.040, 11.16.050, 11.16.060, 11.16,070, 11.16.080, 11.16.090, 11.16.100, 11.16.110 11.16.120, 11.16.130, 11.16.140, 11.16.150, 11.16.160,, 11.16.170, 11.16.180, 11.16.190, 11.16.200, 11.16.210, 11.16.220, 11.16.240, 11.16.250,-11.16.260, 11.16.270, 11.16.280, 11.16.290, 11.16.300, 11.16.310, 11.16.320, 11.16.330 and 11.16.335, all Of the City of Yakima Mun)- cipal Code. WHEREAS, R. C. W. 35.21.180 authorizes cities and towns within the State of Washington to pass ordinances adopting by reference compilations and codes relating to the installation of electric wiring, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima has heretofore examined and understands the scope and purpose of the provisions of i l l the"National Electrical Code, 1965 Edition (National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet No. '70) and the rules and regulations for in- stalling electrical wires and equipment" of the Electrical Inspection Division of the Department of Labor & Industries of the State of Washington, Edition of March I, 1966, and deems it in the best inter- ests of the City that they be adopted as the law of the City of Yakima and, WHEREAS, three copies of said code and rules and regulations have heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Yakima for use and examination by the public, as required by law, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section I. That Section 11.16.010 of the City of Yakima Munici- pal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "11.16.010 ADOPTION OF CODES BY REFERENCE. Commencing July I the National Electrical Code, 1965 Edition (National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet No. 70) and the rules and regulations for installing electrical wires and equipment" of the Electrical Inspection Division of the Department of Labor & Industries of the State of Washington, Edition of March 1, 1966, of which not less than three copies each have been and now are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Yakima, are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out in full herein as the Electrical Code of the City of Yakima." Section 2. That Section 11.16.020 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "11.16.020 ELECTRICAL WIRING — FIRE ZONES. All wiring in buildings or structures situated within the limits of Fire Zones I and 2, as designated and established by Chapter 10.08 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code as it now exists or may hereafter be amended, shall be` installed in approved metallic raceways." Section 3. That Section 11.16.030 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "11.16.030 ENFORCEMENT. The requirements of this Chapter shall be enforced by electrical inspectors of the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries." Section 4. Sections 11.16.040, 11.16.050, 11.16.060, 11.16.070, 11.16.080, 11.16.090, 11.16.100, 11.16.110, 11.16.120, 11.16.130, 111 1.16.140, 11.16.150, 11.16.160, 11.16.170, 11.16180, 11.16.190, 11.16.200, 11.16.210, 11.16.220, 11.16.240, 11.16.250, 11.16.260, 11.16.270, 11.16.280, 11.16.290, 11.16.300, 11.16.310, 11.16.320, 11.16.330 and 11.16.335 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code are here- by repealed in their entirety. Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
