AN ORDINANCE relating to public health and morals; declaring a person
who resists arrest, or who interferes with or refuses to
aid a police officer, to be a disorderly person; amending
Section 6.04.200 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code;
and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 6.04.200 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"6.04.200 OFFICER, RESISTING. Any person who shall
actually or by word, sign or gesture resist, delay, obstruct,
interfere with or hinder any policeman or peace officer of
the City, or any person duly empowered with police authority,
while in the discharge or apparent discharge of his duty, or
who shall refuse when lawfully commanded to assist any police-
man or peace officer of the City in the discharge of his duty,
or who shall advise, aid or assist any person in the lawful
custody of any policeman or peace officer, to escape from
said custody, is hereby declared to be a disorderly person."
Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare
of the people of the City of Yakima and an emergency is hereby declared
to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediate
ly upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and
by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 30th day of
October, 1967.
