AN ORDINANCE providing for an irrigation rate for domestic water used
during the irrigation season; specifying such irrigation
rate; defining "irrigation season"; establishing discount
rates for payment of domestic water service charges on
or before the date when due; amending Sections 7.68.252
and 7.68.267 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code.
j 411 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section I. That Section 7.68.252 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"7.68.252 IRRIGATION RATE ON DOMESTIC WATER, Domestic
water may be delivered to premises inside the city limits dur-
ing the irrigation season at a special irrigation rate under
the following conditions:
(a) In order to secure said irrigation rate, application
must be made to the Utility Accounts Division by the consumer,
who will certify that the domestic water del ivered under said
rate will be used for irrigation purposes on property not
adequately served by separate irrigation systems.
(b) The charge for such water supplied shall be computed
as follows: An amount equal to the maximum water meter read-
ing taken during the previous non-irrigation season shall be
charged under the regular domestic water rates. All water
used in excess of such maximum usage during the previous
non-irrigation season shall be charged during the irrigation
season at the rate of eight cents (8¢) per one hundred cubic
feet. In computing amounts to be charged, the provisions
of Section 7.68.030 shall apply.
(c) The cash discounts for prompt payment provided for
in Section 7.68.267 shall not apply to that portion of the
billings made for water delivered under the irrigation rate.
(d) For the purpose of this section, the irrigation
rate will commence at the regular water meter reading during
the months of February or March, as the case may be for any
particular consumer; and will terminate at the regular water
meter reading during the months of October or November, as
the case may be for any particular consumer. In the event
an application is made during the irrigation season for the
irrigation rate, the irrigation rate will commence at the
next regular meter reading after the time of such application.
(e) The sewerage service charge provided for in Chapter
7.60 shall not apply to the indicated consumption of water
billed at the irrigation rate.
(f) Consumers who have installed domestic water se-vice exclusively for irrigation use will be billed at the irriga-
tion rate without regard to dates of commencement or termina-
tion of service, subject only to the minimum billings provided
for in Section 7.68.255."
Section 2. That Section 7.68.267 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

"7.68.267 DISCOUNTS. One Month Period Bills: A discount •
of twenty-five cents (250 will be allowed on a domestic water
service billing amounting to Five Dollars ($5.00) or less, and
a discount of five per cent (5%) of the total charge will be
allowed on a domestic water service billing amounting to more
than Five Dollars ($5.00), such discounts to be allowed only
if the charges are paid:on or before the due date specified
in Section 7.68.025 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code.
Two Month Period Bill.s: A discount of fifty cents (50)
III will be allowed on a domestic water service billing amounting
to Ten Dollars ($10.00) or less, and a discount of five per
cent (5%) of the total charge will be allowed on a domestic
water service billing of more than Ten Dollars ($10.00), such
discounts to be allowed only if the charges are paid on or
before the due date specified in Section 7.68.025 of the City
of Yakima Municipal Code.
Provided: That the discounts provided for by this sec-;
tion shall not be applicable to bills for domestic water
charged at the irrigation use rate as provided for in
Section 7.68.252."
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
thirty days after its passage, approval and publication as provided
by law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 18th day of
