AN ORDINANCE providing for the annexation by the City of Yakima of
certain property contiguous to the City of Yakima and
?oning said property.
WHEREAS, proceedings have been held in accordance with Chapter
128 of the Laws of 1945, as amended, and Chapter 282 of the Laws of
. 1961 for the annexation of the property hereinafter described, and
WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Com-
mission of the City of Yakima, a hearing was held pursuant to legal
notice, upon the zoning and land use classification of said property
hereinafter described and annexed, and
WHEREAS, said Planning Commission duly recommended that said
property be annexed to the City of Yakima and made recommendations
as to the zoning for said property, and
WHEREAS, said proposed area to be annexed to the City of Yakima
is more than 10 acres in area, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that it
would approve the proposed annexation and that it would require the
• property owners of such area to assume the existing indebtedness of
the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 282, Laws
of 1961, a majority of the review board comprised of the Mayor of
the City of Yakima, the Chairman of the Board of Yakima County Com-
missioners, the Chairman of the School Board of Yakima School District
No. 7, the Representative of the State Department of Commerce and
Economic Development, and a Resident and Property Owner of the area
proposed to be annexed, met and considered all of the factors set fort
in said Chapter 282, Laws of 1961, and at the conclusion of said
meeting made and entered their unanimous findings and determinations
• with respect to such annexation and recommended to the City Council
of the City of Yakima that said proposed area be annexed to the City
of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to due and legal notice as provided by law and
by the City Charter, a public hearing was held upon said petition for
annexation before the City Council of the City of Yakima on July 26,
1965, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such property should be
annexed to the City of Yakima and further finds that the property
should be zoned as hereinafter set forth for the reasons that such
zoning and classification is in accord with good planning and with the
Comprehensive Plan of the City of Yakima, that the majority of the pro-
• perty owners in the vicinity do not oppose the classification or the
annexation, that the needs of the City and community do require the
hereinafter set forth zoning classifications, and that the highest and
best use For said property is as hereinafter determined, now, there-
fore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the following described property contiguous to
the City of Yakima, Washington, to -wit:
Beginning at a point on the west line of Block 18 of the
plat of Section 36, Township 13 North, Range 18 E.W.M.,
according to plat thereof recorded in Volume "E" of plats,
page 36, records of Yakima County, Washington, 145 feet
south of the northwest corner of Block 18 of said plat of
Section 36; thence east 220 feet; thence south, parallel to
• the east line of Cornell Avenue, to a point 397.5 feet north
of the south line of Block 18 of said plat of Section 36; thence
west, parallel with Pierce Street, to a point 25 feet west of
the east line of Cornell Avenue; thence south, parallel with the
east line of Cornell Avenue, 397.5 feet to the south line ex-
tended of Block 18 of said plat of Section 36; thence east, along
the south line and south line extended of Block 18 of said plat
of Section 36 and the South line of Block 17 of said plat of
Section 36, to the centerline of South 4th Avenue; thence
south, along the centerline of South 4th Avenue, to the center -
line of West Washington Avenue; thence west, along the center-
line of West Washington Avenue, to a point 20 feet west of the
east line of Cornell Avenue; thence north, parallel with the
east line of Cornell Avenue, to the centerl ine of Fremont
Street; thence west, along the centerline of Fremont Street,
to the centerline of South 7th Avenue; thence north, along
the centerline of South 7th Avenue, to the north line extended
of Lot 8 of Chandler Addition according to plat thereof recorded
in Volume "H" of plats, page 40, records of Yakima County, Wash-
ington; thence east, along the north line extended and north
line of Lot 8 of said Chandler Addition, to the west line of
Cornell Avenue; thence north, along the west line of Cornell
Avenue, to the north line of Lot 3 of said Chandler Addition;
• thence east, along the north line extended of Lot 3 of said
Chandler Addition, to the west line of Block 18, of said plat
of Section 36; thence south, along the west line of Block 18
of said plat of Section 36, to the point of beginning;
is hereby annexed to the City of Yakima, Washington.
Section 2. That the owners of the hereinbefore described real
property annexed to the City of Yakima shall be required to assume
existing indebtednesses of the City of Yakima.

Section 3. The hereinbefore described real property annexed to
the City of Yakima is hereby zoned as follows:
(a) The following described property is hereby zoned as M -I,
Light Industrial Zone:
Buren Addition according to plat thereof recorded in Volume
• "P" of plats, page 27, records of Yakima County, Washington.
The South 247.5 feet of the East 278.8 feet of Block 31,
plat of Section 36, Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M.,
according to plat thereof, recorded in Volume "E" of plats,
page 36, records of Yakima County, Washington.
(b) That all of the property hereby annexed to the City of
Yakima as described in Section 1 hereof is hereby zoned as R -2, Two -
Family Zone, except for that portion thereof zoned M -I, Light Indus-
trial Zone, as described and provided in Section 3 (a) hereof.

Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
0 file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Auditor of
Yakima County and with the Board of County Commissioners of Yakima
County, Washington.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30
days after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by
law and by the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 26th day of
July, 1965.
