HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-720 ORDINANCE NO. 72o • AN ORDINANCE adopting a budget for the City of Yakima, Washington, for the year of 1966, appropriating funds for the estimated expenditures, and fixing and levying the amount of taxes necessary to balance the estimated revenue with the esti- mated expenditures. WHEREAS, on the 13th day of September, 1965, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Yakima approved by resolution the Prelimin- ary Budget of the City for the ensuing year and filed the same with the City Clerk, in which budget estimates were made of the amount re- quired to meet the public expenses of the City and the expenditures contemplated by it for the ensuing year for Salaries and Wages, for Maintenance and Operation, for Capital or Betterment and for Interest and Debt Redemption, and the estimated receipts of the City for the ensuing year from sources other than direct taxation, and the amount • required and proposed to be raised by taxation upon the real and per- sonal property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Yakima, Washington, and WHEREAS, it appears from the budget that the sum of 55,624,824.00 is required by the City for the payment of its expenditures for the ensuing year, and WHEREAS, it also appears from the said estimates made that the . receipts and surplus of the City for the ensuing year from sources other than direct taxation have been estimated at the sum of $4,493,988.00, and WHEREAS, the sum of $1,280,006.00 i s not in excess of the amount authorized by law to be raised by taxation upon the taxable real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: 111 Section H. The.Budget of the City of Yakima, for the year of 1966, as approved on the 7th day of October, 1965, after due notice of hearing and after the Preliminary Budget had been filed with the City Clerk as required by law, is hereby adopted in the aggregate . amount of $5,624,824.00. Section 2. From estimated revenues, including available surplus, revenues from taxation and revenues from all other sources, the fol- lowing amounts are hereby appropriated for expenditures in each of the following classifications during the budget year 1966: Salaries and Wages $2,430,098.00 Maintenance and Operation 1,982,243.00 Capital or Betterment 858,265.00 Interest and Debt Redemption 354,218.00 $5,624,824.00 Such total of expenditures includes $9,500.00 for Street Construction and $511,546.00 for Street Maintenance and Operation'. Section 3. There is hereby appropriated and fixed to be raised by general property taxes upon the real and personal property within the City of Yakima the amount of $1,280,006.00 which amount, when added to the estimated available revenues from all other sources and surplus, will more than balance the estimated revenues with the estimated expen- ditures. Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of the Budget hereby adopted to the office of the County Commis- sioners of Yakima County, Washington. 111 Section 6. This ordinance is one required to be made by the laws of the State of Washington and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication by title as provided by the City Charter.
