Aft AN ORDINANCE amending Paragraph (n) of Section 88 of Ordinance No
IMP B-1526, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE relating to and regula-
ting traffic, travel and transportation and their inci-
dents upon the streets and other ways open to the public;
prescribing the powers and duties of officers and others
in relation thereto; defining offenses; providing pen-
;
alties, and repealing Ordinance No B-131 and all amend-
ments thereof and all other ordinances insofar as they
are in conflict therewith, and declaring an emergency",
and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section I. Paragraph (n) of Section 88 of Ordinance No B-1526,
passed on December 31 1953, entitled as shown in the caption hereof,
as amended by Ordinance Nos. B-1546 and B-1753 is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"(n) USE OF PARKING METERS.
• (1) Between the hours of 9:00 o'clock a.m. and 6:00
o'clock p.m., on all days except Sunday, New Years
Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Fourth of
July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and
Christmas Day, when any vehicle shall be parked in
any space alongside of or next to which a parking
meter is located, in accordance with the provisions
of this ordinance, the operator of said vehicle or
the person in whose name the vehicle is registered,
shall, upon entering said space with said vehicle,
immediately deposit in said meter a one-cent coin
of the United States, or a five-cent coin of the
United States, for a legal parking time and amount
designated by said meter, and put the meter in
operation.
(2) If said vehicle shall remain parked in said
Parking space beyond the legal parking time which
shall be designated by a sign or signal of said
parking meter showing illegal parking, such vehicle
• shall be considered as parked overtime; and the
parking of a vehicle overtime, or failure to put
said meter in operation, shall be a violation of
•this ordinance and shall be punished as hereinafter
set forth."
Sectiion 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate
• preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety of the
people of the City of Yakima, and an emergency is hereby declared to
exist 9 and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage e approval and publication as provided by law and by
the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 29th day of
March 1961.
